[Picspam] Top 7 Looks at the Oscars 2011 + Honorable Mentions

Can't resist a best dressed picspam! Here are my favorite looks from this year's Academy Awards...

(00) → honorable mentions: jennifer lawrence, scarlett johansson, hailee steinfeld and florence welch
in calvin klein, d&g, marchesa and valentino

I would have loved Jennifer’s look 100% if it didn’t remind me so much of Scarlett at the 2006 Golden Globes mixed with Emma Watson’s CK dress at the American première of DH1. Nevertheless, she looks absolutely stunning, gorgeous and really sexy. Scarlett looked waaay younger than usual, imo. She didn’t try too hard, and I did like that she was somehow different. Love the hair and the make-up. Hailee was the princess of the night, no doubt. She’s so cute! I just don’t know what to think of the dress length. Florence always looks so ethereal… I’m jealous. Love the dress, the color and the ‘decadent’ feel to it.

(07) → mandy moore
in monique lhuillier

I love this dress. It feels so light and effortless, like she’s wearing sparkles only and no fabric. I also like the hair, the accessories and the orange-y lipstick.

(06) → cate blanchett
in givenchy

Alright, Cate Blanchett could wear a trash bag and still look completely flawless and ethereal. I wouldn’t have liked this dress on anyone else, but she makes it work perfectly. She seems some kind of futuristic goddess, I love it. The hair’s gorgeous as well! The short-do is going strong, huh?

(05) → mila kunis
in elie saab

Mila looked stunning. Nothing else too say, the dress, the accessories, the look speaks for itself. It’s sexy and romantic at the same time, and the color isn’t boring. Thumbs up!

(04) → hilary swank
in gucci première

I love this gown, and I love how Hilary’s wearing it. I adore everything, the two-tone part, the feathers, the sparkle. The hair accessory is gorgeous as well! Love this.

(03) → sandra bullock
in vera wang

Sandra was my favorite lady in red last night. I’m completely in love with this look. It’s so simple and chic and RED. I think this is my favorite look from her EVER. The fabric looks so smooth it makes me want to touch it, lol. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. And I loved her Best Actor in a Leading Role presentation.

(02) → amy adams
in l'wren scott

I was torn between first and second place for Amy - let’s just consider this almost *a tie*, lol. Anyway, the look is beyond gorgeous! I love all the sparkles, the way it perfectly fits her body, and the old Hollywood glamour feel to the whole look. The jewelry is amazing, and the contrast between her amazing red hair (MASSIVE ENVY) and the deep blue of the dress is to die for. She looked SO amazing. WOW.

(01) → natalie portman
in rodarte

Predictable, maybe, I don’t care: I LOVED Natalie’s look. As soon as she arrived on the red carpet my first thought was: WOW. Second was: God, girl, you’re late, lol. Anyway. I ADORE the dress, the shape, the details on the front, the way it drapes around her baby bump… she looks radiant. I haven’t been a fan of her red carpet maternity style until now: this is flawless. Love the hair swept to the side, the earrings, the make-up, the smile, the Oscar! It’s a 10/10 for me. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Plus, PURPLE > ANYTHING. (Oh and, pretty rings are waaaay too pretty.)

I completely agree with your top 3 choices. I love how you chose COLOR dresses, too. I personally can't get on board with beige, nude, white, light pink dresses. I just feel it washes people out. So I was happy to see Amy, Sandra & Natalie choose gorgeous hues. Love the styles of their dresses, too, and the sparkles on Amy's dress.

I'm in love with color dresses! There should be more people not afraid to wear colors :P I do like beige, nude, white, etc. depending on who's wearing and how, though, but yeah... color dresses are waaay more fun!

I loved Amy's dress so much! :) And I'm really in love with Cate's dress for some reason, though I do agree that it if it were anyone else wearing it, I'd probably wouldn't like it.
Lovely picspam. <3

Hailee Steinfeld is my favorite dress! At first I didn't know what to think of the length either but the more I thought about it the more I loved it. Why? Because I think it's prefect for a 14 year old. She looks her age! She's cute as a button. The dress might have looked prettier if it was longer but it looked very pretty as is.

Mila Kunis looked so lovely.

Natalie Portman looked beautiful! Her hair and makeup was flawless! The dress was pretty! Radiant is the prefect way to describe her!

I didn't like Cate Blanchett's dress nor Hilary Swank.

I was really disappointed this year at the lack of wow factor dresses. Least I found nothing that really wowed me but for the few I meanted.

Yes, that's what I love of Hailee too. She doesn't seem to want to look like a grown woman, unlike other girls her age - which is nice!

Aw, that's true. I had a "gasp!" moment when Natalie came in, though. Probably because I didn't like her previous choices that much... IDK.

Hi! Found your post through the picspams comm. :)

Have to say, Cate Blanchett was my fave of the night. So fresh, so beautiful and original. And gosh, that beading was amazing.

Also loved Hailee, Scarlett (a first for me!), Jennifer (she looked so 90s, but good 90s!), Mila, Sandra. Have to say, I really disliked Amy Adams' look. I rarely do like her dress choices. This dress was really nice, but the top part felt too busy. I thought she'd look better with her hair up and no necklace. Natalie's dress felt forgetable for me. :/

Oh and I'm so happy Colin Firth is still being dressed by Tom Ford. He even thanked him in his speech! Bless him. :)

Hey! LOL at good 90s! Totally get what you mean XD

And I missed Colin mentioning Tom Ford... I was half asleep by then, lol. But yeah, it is nice. I've recently seen A Single Man and loved it <3

NATALIE IS NUMBER ONE!! OH YEAH!!! :D She was my favorite of the night, too. :D

I always love your picspams after award shows. XP I completely agree with your whole list. ♥

I've a question for you, too: Is there a place where you find out who the designers of the gowns are? I never find out until I see your picspams. XP

YES! As soon as she appeared in my live feed I was like: "OMG!!!!!" XD

Thanks so much, bb!

I got most of the stylists' names from the live stream, Twitter comments and this blog - which is like a drug to me XD

I love your choices! The only one I really didn't like was Florence Welch cause it looked too old/drab for the Oscars. I think my favorite dress was Amy Adam's L'Wren Scott but the necklace kind of ruined it a bit. Natalie's dress was beautiful but I really disliked the earrings (it just looked like it was trying too hard to match).

And I love Cate Blanchett's dress. She always wears something interesting.
Serena: 027 // RPattz ~ Piano Awesomeherm_weasley on March 2nd, 2011 06:02 pm (UTC)
Thank you! :D
Oh, I love Florence. The dress kinda reminded me of the dress Belle wears in Beauty and the Beast, lol (random, I know XD).

Cate is a goddess! She can pull off things nobody else can :P

I think hands down, Sandra Bullock had the most gorgeous dress of the night. I also liked Nicole Kidman's, Reese Witherspoon's and Helen Miren's.

It's far easier to say what I didn't like...starting with Jennifer Hudson's tangerine red dress. All have to say about that, is gratz on the diet, but damn, you look cheap. That dress was tasteless and hideous. As much as I love Scarlett Johanssen, and her usual tastes, this years dress was horrid. The colour did not suit her at all. Also, Gwyneth Paltrow who looked like she'd skinned a tuna and wore it to the Oscars. That metallic thing was hideous. Sorry to all who liked these, but for me...they were just..ugh.
Serena: 024 // RPattz ~ Sexy Timesherm_weasley on March 2nd, 2011 06:01 pm (UTC)
I wasn't crazy about Reese's look, even if I loved the "vintage" feel to it. Nicole did look good (loved the hair!) and Helen Mirren can do no wrong :P

Jennifer's boobs looked hideaous in that dress, I couldn't look away XD LOL. I didn't mind Gwyneth (though she wasn't among my favorites - and LOL at the tuna thing XDDDDD), and I actually liked Scarlett... the look didn't have a 'wow' factor, but she looked "different" and somehow that's why I like it (:

Picspam assolutamente splendido!!
